How To Help Others: What To Say, What To Do.

Hi. How have you been? Okay? I hope so. I have been in situations many times in life where someone is struggling with mental health, physical health or some tragedy, & they are sitting there in tears, & i really want to say the right words & help them in some way, but really had no idea what to do. And i HATE that! That is why i keep a lot of these handy little guides, so i can refer to them when i need to. For example, I learnt the art of listening. When people say they need someone to talk to, i take that literally. let them speak! I try to keep my mouth shut, & not offer opinions or advice they don’t want. Just wait for the right time to speak, but in the meantime, i listen.

So i have compiled a collection of things here to keep handy for future reference so when the time arises, i can read them & be ready, calm, mindful & focused. SO feel free to download, save, print & share. Also, for further reading on a strengths based approach to life & problems, building resilience, & how to learn optimism & be optimistic, i have included some excellent further reading below. Just tap on the titles in blue. They are all available from the SHOP.

* Positive Psychology for Overcoming Depression
* Learned Optimism: How to Change Your Mind and Your Life
* The Oxford Handbook of Positive Psychology (2nd Edition)
* Average to A+: Realizing Strengths in Yourself and Others
* The Optimistic Child: A Proven Program to Safeguard Children Against Depression and Build Lifelong Resilience

Hope all this can help you help others.
